It was constructed on Bayindir stream in Ankara (city),between 1962 and 1965 for the purpose of providing drinking, potable and industrial water. The body volume of the dam which is earth body filling type is 553.000 cubic meter and 30, 00 meter high from the stream bed. The lake volume is 6, 97 hm3 at the regular water level, the lake area is 0, 71 square kilometers at the regular water level. It provides 7 hm3 drinking and potable water per year. The Dam and its nearby is also ideal for trekking and picnic.
